What is my birthstone?
Knowing one's birthstone is an important piece of self-knowledge because of our connection to nature and its impact on our physical and spiritual bodies.
Each of us has our own vibration in life, a unique signature that is entirely ours and that can be enhanced by deliberately surrounding ourselves with objects that help us resonate more strongly and certainly more purely. That's why our ancestors, using their observational powers, deduced that when one is born, the time of year, month, date, and time are important to us so that we can better live our lives with the help of nature.
Voilá, the birthstone. Many wonder, what is my birthstone? Since antiquity, natural gems from the earth and sea have been considered amplifiers of qualities unique to the individual. Throughout history, different gemstones have been attributed with different powers, charms, or meaning. Many of these associations stemmed from mythologies from Egypt, Ancient Greece & Rome, Asia, and even the Bible. From ancient times and across all cultures, gemstones have been prized not only for their beauty but also for their special powers to protect, heal, guide, and enlighten. As far back as the Stone Age, crystal amulets were worn for protection against harm, as well as for decoration.
Fast forward to modern times...what we now know about birthstone gems:
Modern science has proven that matter is 99.9999999999999999% empty space. And what makes up this empty space: energy. Energy is everything, and everything is energy. The vibrational motion of an atom in a crystal or gem propagates to neighboring atoms, which leads to wavelike propagation of the vibrations throughout the crystal. The way in which these natural vibrations travel through the crystalline structure determines the fundamental properties of the material.
Human vibrations are unstable unless you have learned deep meditation techniques as many gurus and swamis have done. Because our vibrations are unstable, they are also easily influenced and that is where crystals and gemstones come into the picture.
Crystals and gemstones have a super stable energy frequency that doesn't change. They're made up of a fixed, regularly repeating, perfect geometric pattern of molecules. And they maintain their perfect stability with no effort. Exactly the opposite of our constantly changing, non-stable human nature.
So why does the stability of a crystal matter? Well, more stable energy = more powerful energy. And powerful energy can influence the energies about it. This is why crystals can so profoundly influence our unstable (less powerful) energy.
Here is a list of birthstones by month. Some people, however, are also naturally attracted to certain crystals or gems, don't discount this natural tendency to a particular stone, which might be your subconscious seeking extra energy. Please note that some months have two gemstones, such as June, which boasts both Pearls and Pink Moonstone, October, which has Opal and Hematite, and December is Turquoise or Tanzanite.
